Ma’at: The Divine Principle of Cosmic Order and Balance

Ma’at embodies the natural order that governs all aspects of existence, from the motion of celestial bodies to the justice and morality that underpin human interactions. In the Egyptian worldview, the universe thrives on balance, and Ma’at is the force that upholds it. She is often depicted as a serene figure with a feather—the symbol of truth and justice—atop her head, emphasizing her role as the arbiter of balance.

Through fair governance, enforcement of laws, and the promotion of harmony, the ruler’s role was to ensure that the kingdom mirrored the balance of the cosmos.
